Case Study - Kensington Residence

This stunning residence in Kensington, London features a number of our Motion Sensor 360 - Volt Free to deliver a beautifully automated Lutron system. The system was commissioned by Baker Stone Systems who are specialists in smart home systems such as Lutron, Savant and KNX.

The home has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment which included updates to the Lutron system adding a number of Faradite motion sensors to the system. The motion sensors have been included in various spaces in the building to provide the homeowner with automated lighting.

The automated lighting is used to great effect in areas such as landings, hallways, dressing areas, toilets and even the wine cellar. Upon entering the space, the lighting elegantly dims up to greet you and help you find your way, after carefully considered timeouts, the lights then dim to off to ensure energy is not wasted in empty corridors and rooms. Should the user decide to want to manually adjust the lighting in the space, the well placed and intelligently commissioned Lutron switch plates are on hand for quick adjustments.

Lighting scenes are used to great effect in the property to neatly tie together the various types of lighting in each area. Countersunk LED strip around the edge of the ceiling offers a beautiful accent to the wall lights in each area and provides flexibility for the user around lighting scenes meaning in the evenings and during the night, just the edge LED lighting can be switched on to 10% to softly illuminate the way without dazzling the person in the room.

The use of the Faradite Motion Sensor 360 - Volt Free ensures an ultra-discreet PIR detector solution is delivered throughout and doesn't detract from the stunning architecture and interior design of this property. To summarise, Andy Baker of Baker Stone Systems said of the Faradite sensors “We chose Faradite sensors because they are small, elegant and most of all the architects and interior designers love them”.
