Case Study - SmartHouse AV Showroom

During a recent trip to Wadebridge in Cornwall, we had the chance to visit the brand-new showroom from Smarthouse AV, a leading smart home specialist covering Cornwall and Devon. Their new space is more than just a demonstration area—it’s an immersive, beautifully curated environment that showcases the very best in modern home technology. Every corner felt meticulously designed, blending premium engineering with high-end interior style.

From the moment I stepped inside, the lighting stood out immediately. The showroom features Lutron lighting, known for its precision dimming, elegant keypads, and premium feel. The lighting shifted effortlessly throughout the visit, moving between bright task lighting and warm ambient scenes with a smooth, almost cinematic quality. Complemented by automated shading, the space was capable of transforming its atmosphere in seconds—an impressive example of how lighting and shading can work together to shape mood and comfort.

At the heart of the showroom sits a fully integrated Control4 smart home system, tying together lighting, shading, AV, and environmental control into one seamless interface. Rather than overwhelming visitors with technology, Smarthouse AV showcased how Control4 simplifies everything. A single command could prepare the home for relaxation, set up a movie night, or adjust lighting and music throughout the space. It was a compelling demonstration of how smart home systems can streamline everyday living.

Audio in the showroom was equally striking, though intentionally subtle. For design-conscious homeowners, this fusion of great sound and zero visual clutter is one of the most impressive examples of modern AV engineering.

Naturally, for us, the standout feature though, was the integration of our Motion Sensor 360 - Plaster In Volt Free. These tiny, almost invisible sensors were discreetly set into the plasterwork, making them blend seamlessly with the décor. As I walked through the hallways, the sensors triggered the lighting automatically—fading lights up as I entered and gently dimming them as I left. It was a perfect example of automation that feels intuitive, helpful, and completely unobtrusive. Two hallways had the sensors installed in the ceiling, and the ground floor staircase had a sensor installed in to the wall that caught users as they came up the stairs.

What truly sets Smarthouse AV’s showroom apart is the cohesion of everything on display. This isn’t a jumble of gadgets—it’s a thoughtfully designed example of what a modern smart home can be when aesthetics and engineering work in harmony. The space feels luxurious yet practical, technologically advanced yet remarkably simple to live with.

For anyone in Cornwall or Devon considering a smart home project, or simply curious about what’s possible, Smarthouse AV’s Wadebridge showroom is well worth a visit. It’s inspiring, impeccably presented, and a compelling look into the future of comfortable, intelligent living.
